This is Chikmagalur without a summit push: two days of coffee country, waterfalls and viewpoints reached mostly by jeep. Saturday runs from Jhari Falls through Baba Budangiri and the Inam Dattatreya Peetha shrine to the short walk out to Z Point, where the ridge drops into cloud on almost any morning. Manikyadhara and Honnamana Halla follow, and Mullayanagiri, the highest point in Karnataka, is there for anyone who wants it. Nights are at a homestay in the hills. It suits families, first-time travellers and anyone who wants the Western Ghats without a long climb. Friday night departure from Bengaluru.
