Permits & Rules
Inner line permits for Arunachal Pradesh are arranged as part of the trip.
Original government photo ID is required at checkposts along the route.
Carry your driving licence, registration certificate and valid insurance for the motorcycle.

Who Can Do This?
For riders who already have long-distance experience on their own motorcycle. Days run 160-300 km on mountain roads, with a 13,700 ft pass crossing on Day 2 and a border run to Bum La on Day 3.
Where It Gets Difficult
The Sela Pass crossing at 13,700 ft and the Bum La stretch, where snow patches and winding roads slow progress. Day 7 is the longest single leg at 300 km back to Guwahati. The Buri Valley section to Zemithang is raw and rugged.
Fitness Requirement
Build up to consecutive full riding days before the trip. Altitude gain is significant, so arrive rested and hydrate through the ride. An oxygen cylinder is carried on the trip.
Best Time to Visit
Heavy rain and landslides make the high passes unpredictable for riding.
Clear skies, settled roads and crisp mountain air. This trip runs 31 Oct to 8 Nov.
Snow and sub-zero temperatures at Sela and Bum La; passes can close without notice.
