Tadiandamol trek booking is now live on Aranya Vihaara, the Karnataka Forest Department’s permit portal, and that quietly makes Coorg’s highest peak one of the simplest big trails in the state to arrange. You book a date, you get a place, you turn up. No phone calls, no arranging it at the gate on the morning.

Elneeru tracks the Aranya Vihaara portal every day. Our own tracking recorded Tadiandamol appearing on it on 1 October 2026, taking the portal from thirteen treks to fourteen. It has held a full thirty days of bookable dates every day since.

That date matters for a second reason, and it is the more interesting one. Kumara Parvatha was the trek everyone expected on 1 October. It did not arrive, and as of 5 October 2026 it is still not on the portal. Tadiandamol is. Both are Coorg treks. The difference between them is guides.

What Tadiandamol trek booking on the portal actually gives you

Three numbers are worth knowing before you open the Aranya Vihaara portal:

  • 150 places a day. That is the daily ceiling for the whole trail, not a group size.
  • One entry window: 7.30 am to 11.00 am. There is a single slot, and it is an entry window, not how long you get on the hill.
  • Thirty days of dates. The calendar rolls forward daily, so there is always about a month of dates in front of you.

The trek sits in Kodagu district. You can see the current state of it any time on our Tadiandamol open or closed page, which reads the portal daily and shows which dates still have places on them.

150 a day puts Tadiandamol in the middle of the pack

A daily cap only means something next to the other treks on the same portal. Here is where Tadiandamol sits among the fourteen we track:

  • Ettina Bhuja: 40 a day, far and away the tightest
  • Chandrampalli Nature Trail, long and short: 100 a day each
  • Tadiandamol: 150 a day
  • Hulukudi Betta: 250 a day
  • Karshigudda, Makalidurga, Bandaje Falls, Ballalarayana Durga, Merthi Gudda, Kurinjal, Kudremukha, Nethravathi and Gangadikal: 300 a day

So Tadiandamol is neither a scramble nor a free-for-all. On a weekday you are very unlikely to be shut out. On a long weekend in peak season, 150 goes faster than people expect, and the portal is the only thing that will tell you honestly how many are left.

The 11 am cutoff is the rule that catches people out

The single most common mistake with Tadiandamol trek booking is reading 7.30 am to 11.00 am as the length of the trek. It is not. It is the window in which you are allowed to start. Arrive at 11.15 am with a valid permit for that date and you can still be turned away.

Bengaluru to the Tadiandamol trailhead is a long drive, most of it on roads that do not reward optimism in the dark. Leaving the city at 4 am to make an 11 am cutoff leaves you no room for a puncture, a diversion or breakfast. The honest answer is to sleep in Kodagu the night before and start the climb early, which is also when the views are worth having.

Our full route breakdown, including the climb itself and what to carry, is in Tadiandamol trek: Coorg’s highest peak demystified. This post is about the permit, not the path.

Why Tadiandamol opened and Kumara Parvatha has not

Under Karnataka’s new trekking SOP, a trained guide is mandatory on every trek, and that guide has to carry a mobile app with a GPS tracker so the department can see where each group is on the trail. The practical consequence of that rule is blunt: no trained guides, no treks.

The Forest Department ran the first stage of trek guide training on 10, 11 and 12 September 2026 at the Forest Training Centre in Kushalnagar. Trails with enough registered, trained guides to cover them can be signed off and switched on. Trails without them wait, however ready everything else is.

Tadiandamol cleared that bar. Kumara Parvatha, on the evidence of the portal, did not, and that is the most likely reason its reopening has slipped past the expected 1 October date. This is Elneeru’s own read of the sequence rather than a line from a departmental order, and we will say so plainly until a formal notice says otherwise. What is not in doubt is the pattern: the department is clearing treks one at a time rather than switching everything on at once.

If you are waiting on Kumara Parvatha specifically, we keep a dated page on it: Kumara Parvatha trek opening date 2026. For what the new rules actually changed, read our breakdown of Karnataka’s new trekking SOP.

Both are Coorg treks, and that is why this is a signal

This is the part worth sitting with. Kushalnagar, where the guide training ran, is in Kodagu. Tadiandamol is in Kodagu. And Kumara Parvatha is a Kodagu trek too from one side: the quieter Somwarpet and Beedalli approach climbs it from the Coorg side, while the better known route starts at Kukke Subramanya in Dakshina Kannada.

So the same district, the same training centre and broadly the same guide pool sit behind both trails. A Coorg trek going live on the portal is therefore not unrelated news if Kumara Parvatha is what you are actually waiting for. It is the clearest evidence yet that the Kodagu guide pipeline is producing cleared trails, and Kumara Parvatha is the harder, longer, higher one in the queue behind it.

How to check before you drive

Tadiandamol trek booking moves daily, so do not trust a screenshot, a forwarded WhatsApp message or a blog post for live permit numbers, including this one. Dates open and fill every day.

We run a live Aranya Vihaara slot tracker that reads the portal every day and shows all fourteen treks in one place, date by date, with the places left on each. It is the fastest way to see whether Tadiandamol, or anything else in the Western Ghats, is worth the drive this weekend. Book on the government portal itself; use ours to decide.

Is Tadiandamol trek open right now?

Yes. Tadiandamol trek booking has been live on the Aranya Vihaara portal since 1 October 2026 and has carried thirty days of bookable dates since. Our open or closed page has the current dates.

How many people are allowed on Tadiandamol a day?

150 for the whole trail, in a single entry window from 7.30 am to 11.00 am.

Do I need a guide?

Yes. Under the 2026 SOP a trained guide is mandatory on every Karnataka forest trek, and the guide carries a GPS tracking app.

Is Kumara Parvatha open?

Not as of 5 October 2026. It is still absent from the portal.
